Flat hand file is ideal for filing flat surfaces, straight edges and structures, and outside curves; it is highly recommended for working with platinum and other hard metals. It features parallel sides and edges, with teeth on the top, bottom and one edge; the second edge is smooth, preventing inadvertent removal of metal from adjacent structures or surfaces.
